Over the last few months ive been collecting parts in order for Ant to build me a good 2.7 for my tech 1.
We got the block back from the machine shop just before xmas and started work this week.

So far Ant has built up the bottom end and ive thrown my self in the deep end by building the head, well most of it and under Ants close expert supervision as i am a really novice with engine stuff lol.
gAlthough we have had a few late ones working last night and tonight (cheers dude) the conversion is making good progress.

Its been quality because i have been able to get some first hand experience, learn something and have a much better understanding of an engine and how it all fits together.

The lump is all going together tomorrow then we are going to pull my old engine then drop the 2.7 in all being well.

Ive wanted a 2.7 e30 for about 12 years nows, so well exited its all coming together, hopefuly no major dramas tomorow and all will be sweet!

Big thank you to Ant for all his help and hard work so far, also Malc for today winkeye

2.7 Executive!!!!!

This is going to be a serious 2.7 - has a very impressive spec, me and ozwaldo here have a little bet on - his 2.7 vs my 3.5. I'm getting worried though, his motor is very proper!

Oz,

Credit to you for getting stuck-in and getting on with it. I wish I had the time, space and tools to do some jobs on my car myself also.

Look forward to seeing the car at Ace.

Wicked Oz, I'm well chuffed for you.

Can't wait for it to be ready, I know you'll use it where appropriate, unlike how I would (i.e. Ace cock action! haha)

Also, the 'Ring will be awesome with the extra torque etc!

Nice one geeza.

Great stuff! Really looking forward to seeing this on the road - tech 1 and 2.7 is a great combination! Did you end up staying much longer last night?

Colin I have no idea what the difference will be - a dyno day will have to be done when both motors are on the road, not to mention santa pod and Nordschliefe!

This is alive and kicking now folks.......

Fired 1st try after some priming cranks with the DME and Fuel pump relays removed, sounds rather  and revs very nicely for a stroker.

OZ,Theo and Simon heroes one and all, sorry I had to ditch on Sunday but lots to do and no time as usual

Oz should be in soon, I'll let him wax lyrical, me, I'm going to bed

SHE'S ALIVE!!!!!! :D :D :D

Well, well pleased!

Was down at the workshop all day today helping out where i could passing spanners and that kind of thing lol then early this evening we went for the first spark up.

As Ant said she started first time and with no leaks or dramas at all which really is a testament to all Ants knowledge and hard work.

Sounds lovely too :D

We didn't manage a drive in it due to a bad air lock but should be cool once Ant has had a little tinker with it tomorrow when she is stone cold.

I will be leaving the car with Ant for a little while so he can do the critical running in then hopefully Ant should be dropping her up to me soon!

Cant wait to drive it now and feel that extra torque though it will be a while before i can see what she can realy do.

Rough spec

Eta bottom end fully lightened and balanced with diamond honed bores
Early high comp pistons
325 head
273/273 cat cam and vernier pulley
Polished and lightened eta crank
Total seal oil rings
BBTB
ITG
BTB 6 branch
Zone 2.7 chip

There's is more but to be honest i cant remember, not too clued up with engines, block spec is Ants special recipe!

Nearly all the bottom end parts are brand new and same with the head, the only bits that were not replaced which is not much were in very good condition so no worries there!

Again a big big thank you to Ant for all his hard work on this conversion, absolute f@cking legend and hero, i can not recommend his (Atech's) service's enough cheers fella.

Simon and Theo many thanks, lol simon no fuel leaks nice one dude!

Oh and thanks to Toby for helping out tonight, top bloke good to meet ya!

Well that's it for now till the drive, Thanks again everyone that helped!

pics to follow soon!

It was my pleasure dude both meeting you, and (hardly) helping out. My hands are still warm from trying to get that air out. Which is nice.

Your car is a convincing weapon. That cam sounds meaty.

10.25:1 Compression Ratio.

It has all the right ingredients to make be as quick as the Alpina or GUG. Infact, it should be quicker with it being considerably lighter.
