mate, thats actually 3 times more than my actual quotes...

got 350 and 300 so far.....from two 'magicians' in the trade who do standard car repair work.....

The guy doesnt know much about cars, but he can paint very well....he also ensured that he will get a proper match....

Any other suggestions..

bumper, wings, bonnet - Ԛ£1k would be top garage, absolutely perfect job, especially since these are removable from the car

but it is possible to get that kind of price if you are trying

The local good paintshop normally charges around 120 a panel......top class job as well. So I would expect around 400 for front end and if the guy is local then he better do you a good job !!!!!

well if you can get it for 400 or so then take it! :D i dont think the sprying will be such an effort but i wonder if heԚ´ll take the panels off and do it or if heԚ´ll put covers over the wheels and spray it whole...

if its the later then i wouldnt recomend him, coz the paint wonԚ´t be sealed as it would if it was an alround coating f you get what i mean, also if he is going to break the front down then itԚ´ll take him a while if he dont know cars that well( how can he be a propper sprayer if he dont know cars?)

i would say to you to take the trim and under arches off yourself so you know it wont be missing anything when it comes time to putting it back together :( and then thereԚ´s no excuse for him not to remove the panels.

also is he gonna mix the paint or get it from bmw?

er...ok.

In order to spray a car, one is not required to remove panels you know....if you were going to spray a whole car you want to ensure that the finish you get is the same. To be honest, you wouldn't want a bodyshop taking off panels and refitting them if it is not necessary!
I mean, i wouldnt be too happy them popping the bonnet and getting paint anywhere near the block!!

He has a mixing pallet anyway or he could get the paint from BM.

Loads of bodyshops mix the paint there and then....too pack...hmmmmmmm

dude, i worked in a bodyshop, and im not playin with you

you have a loverly car and you yourself asked for a quote on a superb job so iԚ´ll estimate on if the work was perfomed with no cost spared

true you dont need to remove pannels and in some cases its best not to as most of the car may fall apart with it, but its the best way, as if you may need to separate pannels in the future then it would be easier and wont crack the seal of the paint.

if they are painting the bonnet as you said, then why not take it off and clean out the foam, spray it up and then renew the foam.. may look better

also 2 pac paint is an option, we mix pigment, include flake at a chosen grade, and add a hardener, bake it and depending on the amount of money being spent, work the surface per coat (takes a day to cook) and then finish with 4 - 5 coats of clear to seal it..

now im not a pro, in fact im a cook so i havent got the Ԛ´skillԚ´with the gun but i have learned off a master of 30 years proof
good bloke as well

hey rags, you don't need to remove the panels as mentioned, but it really does help - i had a car resprayed without panels removed and it isn't neat near edges... :(

its more "complete" if you take off the panels, i reckon (you have to see examples of it both ways to know what i mean) - he shouldn't have a prob with that if it's only wings/bumper/bonnet though, they are easy to get off  and it's probably a lot easier for him - doesn't have to cover the rest of the car when spraying then!

y Ԛ´get me.. heԚ´ll be doing himself a favor if he does it the right way, and youԚ´ll not have to ..

you see, the thing is, If you spray it outside only, what protection from elements have you on the underside? it wont take long befor that new coat lets in water and facks up the wing for u, and besides, if he does try to get under the arch, heԚ´ll only end up spraying your inner arches too, would not look cool on show days beleive
