'Harr je' (je as in the french for 'I', with a sort of silent J)?
or 'Hardge'?
or something else equally as difficult to explain? lol

sorry is that gue as in ryhmes with goo or jew?
you havent really explained how its pronounced since g has two different pronounciations one as a j sound one as a soft g sound as in garden or german.
and e often changes the sounds of words such bod to bode.
how would you spell hartge phonetically?

There is no soft 'g' in the German language. Which makes you wonder why we call it German not Deutsch.
Common mispronunciation is 'Hart-idge'. Its 'Hart Guh' as has already been established. bla bla bla.

Yeah but saying 'hart-guh' makes you sound like a retard
Hartege sounds much more 'civilised'

It's a bit like Ginger... do you say 'jinjer' or 'ginga'...?
