Oh what a bad day
Moderator: martauto
My yokohama tyres turned up from mytryes.co.uk so I looked to see what garage they recommend to fit them. I phoned the garage and they said bring them down now and we can fit them. took them down with my mim alloys. Got a phone call later on saying That they have tried to fit them but couldnt get them on. When I went to pick the wheels and tyres up one of the tyres had been split where they had tried to fit it. And this is the best part they will not pay for a new tyre
So I have a Ԛ£50 tyre that is no good

Threaten them with trading standards and rude comments in the press. Not fitting them is one thing, damaging them for you is another. They'll have insurance.

i can understand garages not guaranteeding cambelts etc unless you get the parts from them but a tyre is a tyre, not complicated! they are fairly low profile so are harder to put on as the tyre wall is stiffer, but they should say a) we don't have the correct machine to put them on b) we tried and failed so here is some money for your tyre try the monkeys own the road or better still c) we tore your tyre but come back tomorrow and we will have fitted a new one for you and will balance them for free for the inconvenience!

Ed.....
If you've got MiM 1900's, the tyres need to be fitted from the back of the wheel. Did the monkeys realise that?? Probably not - doesn't sound like it.
It's all to do with the well in the rim being ar5e-about-face.

Stuart.
ps. In my experience, buying tyres off the internet is a waste of time, unless you know your tyre fitter really well and can get him to fit them for you very cheaply. Most tyre places 'round here charge anything up to Ԛ£10+VAT per wheel to fit tyres that were bought elsewhere.
Then your cheap tyres aren't cheap anymore.

lay out for another tyre. Cheeky monkeys.
Thing is, a lot of these places think they know what they're doing but they don't. Anything older than 1995 and they're stumped.
Reverse rims are real old school.
yep this is how they have fooked yer tyreessbee wrote: If you've got MiM 1900's, the tyres need to be fitted rom the back of the wheel. Did the monkeys realise that?? Probably not - doesn't sound like it.

there are a few wheels out there like this because of the dish and offset etc
they really have to give you a tyre,if they dont, that is just pure bollox, because in the end it aint going to cost them 50 quid is it and i`m sure they dont want less customers when you tell your mates and they tell their mates etc etc what a crap service they have!

Have they damaged the lip on the outside of the rim in the attempt to get the tyre on?? If they have, you'll want all four rims refurbed, won't you?
Tell them you want a replacement tyre and then take the rims elsewhere to have them fitted.
Then bad-mouth the muppets all 'round town.

word of mouth against a companys reputation and service basically means that the company will lose almost all of their customers, people really do listen and take note when it comes to things like this.

Much as I loathe the reptiles of the press and won't usually give them the time of day, that does usually get the right result.ed325i wrote: I will go to the local new paper.
I've had to (grudgingly) resort to it a couple of times.
Good luck Ed, I hope you get it sorted reasonably amicably.
As they were recommended by MyTyres, it might be a good idea to give them the heads-up too.

did you pay for the fitting by credit card separately? or did you pay for the whole service including fitting by credit card?
If so get onto them and they will also sort out the retailers/ fitters as they will withhold payment or take other action, perhaps give you a refund

Ed, out of interest which garage is this.
We deal with almost all local garages through work...
PM if you'd prefer.
Glad you got it sorted anyway.

that's harsh! i know some tyres can be tricky but they're hardly 255/25/19's or something mad are they?!!!!
my loca kqik fit is actually really good as the blokes in there are total car nuts without exception so they look after anything good!
also costs me a tenner to get a 4 wheel laser track and a fiver for a tyre fit and balance (or Ԛ£15 for 4!!!!)
that's the bexhill on sea, east sussex branch by the way.

Suprised about that, Autoquick seem like a good garage. Paul is the guy I speak to there, and he always seems to appreciate favours we do, and I thought he'd be the same the other way round. Maybe you were speaking to someone else there, and he sorted it out?
Oh well, if you need tyres fitting or stuff like that, gimme a shout.
