Just in case anyone is interested -
Car was stolen so spent a bit of time coming up with ways to prevent it happening again.
Fitted a snap off quick release system Ԛ£75, newly provided by Momo (as opposed to old mountey set-up). Bought momo steering wheel and boss from ebay for about 60 quid.
Obviously easy to fit and result is just what I wanted. Works very well - tight, absolutely no play and isn't lying calling itself quick release. Added benefit for me (long legs normal length arms) is the steering wheel is brought forward by about 20mm - has made for a much more comfortable driving position.
Very satisfying to look through window and see no steering wheel. Short of a trailer theft (and come on, the car's just not worth that much trouble) this has got to help...
Also fitted immobiliser that should confuse even the most dedicated thief and about to add an alarm - pieced together for bugger all money and put out of harms way (i.e. not underneath the bonnet).
I live in hope.
notes on a quick release steering setup
