Spent over Ԛ£1k on my old 318iS in about 9 months! I thought i was gonna keep the dammn 4 pot until this dammn car seduced me at Gaydon!
And on this ive spent about the same but i AM DEFINATELY keeping this one this time!
(I take it you mean on non maintenance stuff like ICE and mods anyway)

I spent Ԛ£275 on the car originally.
Then Ԛ£109 on a set of MSW wheels for it
The engine rebuild's ongoing but will hopefully stop the clock at around Ԛ£1000
Then there's the Emerald engine management system for Ԛ£750
A pair of Garrett T25 turbos Ԛ£200
Two cossie intercoolers Ԛ£80ish
Wilwood 4pot Brake kit Ԛ£470
Some kind of suspension kit-----who knows how much but hopefully less than Ԛ£400
Tyres Ԛ£280
Close ratio Gearbox Ԛ£75
All adds up.........to: Ԛ£3639
And counting!

My old 316i lux I spent about 3k on.
Then along came the sport, afraid to count the receipts for that, but I would guess not far off 5k.
Touring, I've probably spent about 1k on it so far.
M3, I've spent about 1k on it already (had it 2 months so far) and that figure will double in the next month!!

I paid 2.5k for my 316i lux
Then 5k for my sport
1.2k for the touring
6k for the M3!
That's well over 20k on E30's in the past 6-7 years.

Plenty of people go out and spend Ԛ£X000s on a brand new Ford Focus or similar, which will be worth s*d all in seven years time.
My initial reaction to people spending mega money on an E30 is that they are nuts, but looked at in this way , and remembering that in seven years time the E30 will still hopefully be worth plenty, then it makes sense.
Which would you rather drive - the Ford Focus eurobox or the well sorted E30?

Totally agree Brian, the sport I bought for 5k I sold for 4.5k, the touring I bought for 1.2k will be worth hopefully double by the time I've finished with it, and the M3 should be worth hopefully about what I paid for it.
When I bought the 316i they were still pretty expensive cars then, and still coming down in value, and it went in part ex on my sport for 1k.
The E30 has hit the point where they don't loose value a long time ago now, so it really does make sense.

Not had to spend much on my old lady yet,not into the modding thing so that will save a small fortune, what money I do spend is on regular servicing.
Gonna splash out on a few bits this year to smarten up things, yup,I will get my crappy reg plates sorted and replace that broken fog, other than that she's tip top
At a guess,i've probably spent about Ԛ£500 quid in 2 1/2 years, and the inital purchase of Ԛ£1900,.
The last owner spent about Ԛ£18k on her, saved me a mint..............wooooo hoooo!

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...
Paid Ԛ£2k for my iS nearly 3yrs & 50k ago now and in that time spent about Ԛ£5k fixing and maintaining and fettling.
If you include all the other usual car expenses of insurance, fuel, tax, etc that figure's closer to Ԛ£12k.
But the cost per mile is less than 35p so i can still make a profit on business mileage claims.

Save the E30s!
I paid just under grand more than the actual value of my car...it was up for Ԛ£2595 but got it for Ԛ£2400...but it was definately worth no more than Ԛ£1500.
Needs a lot of work doing but I loved the look despite not being the minter it was advertised as.
That was Saturday, bought some new alpinas Ԛ£550 now on car, Ԛ£138 worth of cooling parts & an ariel, number plate Ԛ£500, and a few other bits and pieces worth Ԛ£200.
Laying out another Ԛ£400 on indicators, dials, bulbs, steering wheel, gear knob etc today, plus hopefully going into garage tomorrow for the colling problem to be fixed.
So within 3 days of getting the car I have spent Ԛ£1800 on top of the Ԛ£2400 car and there's a hell of a lot more to go!
Well worth it though, I'd sell my houses if it meant my E30 would benefit.

I've had my car for nearly 4 years, everything i have ever spent on the car, including purchase, number plate, wheels, brakes, lights, engine rebuild, ice, alarm/tracker etc etc and much much more is just short of Ԛ£30k
Before the engine rebuild(which was Ԛ£8.5k) i was offered Ԛ£18k from a chap i meet up at goodwood, it was a totally genuine offer he gave me his business card and told me to give him a ring if i wanted to take up his offer(i did'nt ring) a month later was at goodwood again, the chap had travelled down from the london area hoping to see me, which he did and made me another offer of Ԛ£20k, basically this guy had brought an E30 M3 brand new from a uk dealer back in "88", lachs silver same trim etc as mine, it was as he put it his "sunday toy" he had it for 9yrs, went on a business over nighter decided to take the M3 parked outside the hotel, next mornin it had gone
tryed to replace it, but could not find another one to match at that time...
Good story for me... Was quite tempted with his offer, but what other car could i have brought for that money that was a better car than the ///M3 ??
(sorry for going off topic)

Mark.
Ho boy. Where do i start
Ok, here we go
Ԛ£6,000 - Original price of the car
Ԛ£1,600 - Paint and thinners etc from House of Kolor
Ԛ£2,000 - For respray
Ԛ£2,000 - Wheels
Ԛ£3,000 - Engine conversion
Ԛ£5,000 - Interio
Ԛ£2,000 - Head unit
Ԛ£5,000 - For the screens and rest of ICE
Ԛ£1,000 - Hardtop
Ԛ£500 - Engine bling bits
Ԛ£600 - Tyres
Ԛ£800 - FK coil-overs
Ԛ£300 - brakes
Ԛ£500 - chopping my spare wheel holder off to run twin exit exhausts
Ԛ£400 - Exhaust
Ԛ£300 - Angel eyes with HID look bulbs
Ԛ£600 - New front & rear bumper
Ԛ£250 - Rear lights
Ԛ£500(Aprox) - New rubbers and seals etc.
I believe that's a grand total of around Ԛ£32,350. I know i've spent more than that because there are lots of other small bits that i've had to buy, but havent put on here like a new windscreen, 2 new front windows, carpet, mats etc.
I'd like to think i'm done with spending money on her now, but i know it wont be the last. I'm thinking of a E36 M3 conversion and there are still a few things i have to do to make me happy, so i think i'll be spending a bit more before i'm done.
