Factory leads can be good for a very very very long time
so it is worth buying 2nd hand set as tthey last more often than they fail by a long shot

I was always of the impression you should change them as routine with service?
I did change them last time for some nice Bosch ones. So as long as the contacts look ok and the housing isn't pitting, I could get away with not changing them??

I have never replaced an E30 ignition lead in my life. I have tested plenty, and every single one has been perfect.
Changing them as routine is for lesser cars, not BMW, or, in the case of LPG Landrovers, changing them between services as well.
