ok i have decided the bma plate needs to come off my sport

will i get the original plate back ??

how long does it take to sort out??

how much will it cost??

what happens to the plate im taking off?
is it still mine regardless or do i have to pay extra to keep it etc

any advice appreciated

You will probably get your original number back, as long as the DVLA haven't deleted it. You can apply to keep your current plate on a retention certificate at a cost of 25 quid a year I think, just don't forget to renew it or you lose the plate!! I think the transfer fee is 80 quid but that may have changed. You can find most of the forms on the dvla website, you can either apply in person and they'll probably do it while you wait, or you can send it off in the post and it should take about 7-10 days. You should also find the address of your nearest office on the dvla website.

spot on jonny. id also add that the forms are typical DivvYLA confusing. if theres a "going down there and letting them do it all for you" option then take that with open arms..
