2.0 :S
I always thought the point of an engine conversion was to have a bigger engine, say 2.8 or above? in an e30 anyway! Well my opinion anyway, I'm sure the 2.5 goes well but it puts out 170bhp as per the m20 though does it not?

The 2.8 is an M52
The M50 was 192bhp when it left the factory, mines got a lighter flywheel, cats removed, full Scorpion exhaust and pulls 60 in just over 6 seconds

Yep, the 323i was infact a 2.5 litre car which was detuned using the same inlet manifold that the 328i used, with a more restictive downpipe and exhaust, detuned ECU and put out 170bhp. This is so the 328i's output of 193 looked a little better as the "old" 325i which was made up until the 323i and 328i came out in 1995 was actually 192bhp, only 1 less than the 193bhp of the 328, which was also restricted from the factory to comply with German tax and insurance laws

Maybe because it is an E30 engine?FBF wrote:i dont get why theres so much love for the 2.7
I use my car everyday so fuel consumption was a big part of my engine conversion. Otherwise like you say a V8 would have been good for the job
