fecking uninsured drivers!!!!
We need more of those barcode guns so every car gets zapped. They could all have a barcode provided by insurers so every vehicle can be zapped and is outwardly visible, even to traffic wardens, that the car is insured.
Give them the power to ticket drivers for non display of an insurance disc, much like a tax disc, along with this zappy gun technology to target the freeloading scum, rather than penalising law abiding citizens. Where is the incentive to insure your car if you can get some other mug to pay it anyway?

Coz the companys pay out! No questions asked!
And fake personal injury!
Could be a reason why its going up!
May be have to try it, the gang doing it, have already made 8 million
Anyone else catch that??

Its not so much the insurers fault as the governments.
my best mates brother got pulled over in January, no tax, insurance or MOT, again in february again no insurance, in may he crashed his car in full view of a patrol car, again no insurance
was in court last week. fined £100 for each time he was caught plus court costs total £410!!!!! (oh an a pathetic 6 month driving ban)
the max penalty is £200 for each time you are caught. should be £1000 and 12 month ban the first time, inprisonment the next time
I am 24 with 7 years no claims and my insuranc is £400 for young lads your looking at £2000, so they think its worth the risk!

the major problem is people cant afford to insure there cars......so they dont.
or generally think the cost is WAY too much.
so lets see...to get people to pay insurence they put the cost EVEN higher, so even more people cant afford it and think its a waste of money.
hey this will really help the situation and get more cars on teh road insured. well done another great move from the british goverment.

As it is a legal requirement, the government should be enforcing payment of insurance moer closely. But as they don't get any money out of it (Ie tax, well apart from IPT, insrance premium tax, 15%) They'd rather concentrate on crushing cars of people who like their fags and booze from France.

As if these compaines don;t earn enough money anyway even with the claims and uninsured drivers.
Shareholders want to see profits rise every year or atleast not drop. Heads roll when profits don't go up.
So therefore, because these big organistions KNOW that the British Public love getting their pants pulled down and having a fist shoved up as far up their arse as physically possible.....they oblige happily and rise the cost of nearly everything.
The British Public is happy because they have something new to complain about down the Pub (and forums) and the shareholders are even happier because they get more money.
Sadly Gentlemen (and a few ladies), this is a basic fact of the mind set of this Country.
The same goes for fuel prices, Road Tax and lots of other unrelated things.
Isn't it amazing how a bunch of clever money making bastards are holding the wallets of every person to ransom.
Everyone complains about high prices for insurance- if everyone were to stop paying insurance that would send tremours through these big compaines over night and you'd soon be holding them to ransom.
But that's never going to happen because the public love getting arse raped.

No it's not a ploy to get young drivers off the road.dobbie82 wrote:I am/was selling a P plate Fiat Brava for £850, small hatchback, only group 6 insurance... for a 17/18 year old on third party, the cheapest is £2000+?? coupled with driving lessons at £45 each.. its a ploy to get young drivers offthe road
Everyone wants the luxury of a car especially young people as it gives them alot more freedom.
No matter what the price, young people are prepared to pay it for this amazing frredom -the car.
Therefore, fat bastards in big office down town think.....mmm.....I could get very rich by taking advantage of this need for speed and freedom - raise the prices because they'll still go for it.
How expensive are drivign lessons now!!!
It's all about money comrades. Nothing else. Don't fool yourself into thinking otherwise.
Same as Speed Cameras - it's great how they strategically placed where there is not much of having an accident but of catching cars doing 35mph instead of 30mph because it's a massive open road.
Take the A12 in London and the A 406. Part of the A12 is much bigger than the A406 where i live and guess what - the A12 has a lower speed limit and less traffic.
Just get used to it - we are a bunch of people who take it up the arse because the media/gorvernment has got us so deep into our lifestyles etc that we just have time to contest this rip off industry.

believe it or not, motor insurers in the UK are not making any profit at the moment, it is just the activities from the other areas of their business that result in the group making a whopping end of year profit, such as life & pensions products etc.
Data suggests it will be 2010 before a UK motor insurer sees a profit from their book of business.
The other problems are the insurers themselves who compete with each other on a price war. One of them starts dropping rates in order to get more new business, so to compete for the same volumes of business the others drop their rates too. They then all start to piss & moan when those dodgy punters they were all grabbing for start having claims, because the insurers were busy writing business at low rates. The claims then flood in and they have not collected enough premiums to cover the claims cost.
This is what NU are doing now, as the UK biggest insurer they are making it quite public that they are sticking their rates up, so punters know what to expect and the other insurers won't be far behind.
This news happens every year.

Another excellent marketing strategy -let people think they are not making money on motor insurance.
Accounting is very easy to manipulate to show decreased profits by hiking up some very basic figures.
Don't get sucked into what you read.

I completely agree with the above comment. We will never stand up and complain against these companies, organisations and Governments. If petrol went to £1.20 litre we'd still pay for it because that's just the way this country is. Stiff upper lip. Frightening really. The Fat cats get richer and we get squeezed. We should be more like the French STAND UP AND fight for our rights. Don't get me started on this....

I have often though that insurance breaks every single Human Right, its ageist, sexist, racist, occupationalist and ever ist that you could think of.
I'm pretty sure that if women had to pay more it would have long ago been taken to court.
The fact that we each have to pay £30 for uninsured drivers is ridiculas, especially when you have an incident they still don't pay out.
Laywers are also doing very well out of it, they get 40p in every £1 paid out in compensation. Do we have to copy the US in everything?
Insurance is a scam
I would far rather there be a basic central insurance scheme that everybody had, then if you want to have frilly (worthless) extras on your insurance you have to pay for it.
Under 21's should also be ristricted on what cars they drive, like in motorbikes, after 2 years they can drive anything. If it keeps the insurance cost down for the rest of us that don't crash then it must be good.
The amount of people not paying for insurance is purely down to how easy it is to get away with not doing it and like has previously been said the tiny slap of the wrist you get.
We more traffic police and less cameras!

Over in Bulgaria, one month's insurance was 10 euro's, regardless of car type! thats about £80 a year.
and the fuel was 45p a litre...
I think we should get a zone fight group together and go protesting, possibly try to get a better insurance deal for zoners

the tables will turn a little on the uninsured idiots, well at least the rate of detection will once the ANPR cameras are everywhere and the Motor Insurers Database actually is updated properly by the insurers.

Agree completely....how the fcuk does that Sheila's Wheels or Diamonds advert get away with what they say about women being better drivers and ONLY insuring women.Gwynleym10 wrote:I have often though that insurance breaks every single Human Right, its ageist, sexist, racist, occupationalist and ever ist that you could think of.
If there was an advert, for a Car Garage saying
"All our mechanics a male so you'll know you'll get a better job done" it would cause carnage! (regardless of whether its a fact)

It just isnt fair is it, but young male drivers make the most claims (or when they do crash they do a good job of it!)
But a lot of accidents are caused by old biddies driving slow and when you run into the back of her when she brakes hard for no reason it goes down as another young male driver accident.

Yes but thats like saying that all white people can't dance! Its only the Insurance industry that can generalise like this! I have never made a claim on my insurance.dobbie82 wrote:It just isnt fair is it, but young male drivers make the most claims (or when they do crash they do a good job of it!)
The driving test needs to be made more difficult and penalties higher!
Forcing poeple to pay more, just because they fit into one particular group is agaist human rights as far as i'm concerend!

Thats completely the wrong attitude im afraid. The most dangerous thing about being a young driver is over confidence. What, in your opinion, makes you a better driver than the 'nob heads' you refer too?
It all comes down to experience, something that no young driver really has.
Im a young driver with a powerful car, i realise iv got nowhere near the skill or experience needed to push such a car on public roads dispite doing plenty of advanced driving, skid control etc.
