Hi All, I have now decided to break my car for parts as I have had no offers as a whole so once the plate transfer has been completed I intend to start with the engine and box etc. What is generally included with a lump? ECU, starter, alternator.....I have never bought or sold an engine before so any pointers appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete.

usually when you buy a recon engine its just the actual block and head with no ancilleries(starter motor, alternator etc) but if its from a breaker i would expect they sort of bits included but probably not the rad ,ecu etc.

If its any use as a guide, I stripped a car and sold the engine a few months back - I left the starter motor, alternator etc (basically everything directly attached to the engine block) etc on but removed the ecu, radiator and evrything else in the engine bay not directly fixed.

Guess if someone wants it to convert their smaller engine the ECU and loom would be useful.

Can't imagine you'd get more than a fiver for and ECU on it's own anyway?

Depends how much you want to make out of the engine and how much someone will offer!

if someone is just after a replacement engine, they could use their own manifolds etc. You could sell inlet manifolds, alternators and starter motors seperate as required- or keep them spare for your next car :D

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. The engine in question is a 2.5i m20 out of an '89 Sport with 91000 miles on the clock.
