Close ratio box is STD on sport models as is the LSD.
Optional on all other models though , my SE was factory built with LSD and close box so you could get lucky
MPg wise.... 25-30 mpg is easily achieved with mixed driving, cane it 24/7 though and you'll be a regular @ the pumps

LSD is easy check, car on level ground, jack up one wheel with the car in neutral, handbrake off and try to turn the wheel by hand.
if it turns fine then no LSD. if it seems solid/locked then LSD is in the house Wohoo !!
as for the G/box,normal box has a gaping hole in the gearing between 2nd and 3rd, no visual check will tell you what you wanna know , its an internal change dude.
best bet, view during "office" hours and call your local dealer/bmw HQ and give them the chassis number, they can give you info on what was fitted from new.
doesn't mean its still there though
