I recently broke a 325i that i have had lingering about for a couple of years,i bought it when i wasnt very well gemmed up on e30's and never noticed it had no vin number stamped on the scuttle panel,i thought id bought a dodgy motor and was non too happy, any once id stripped the car i decided to bare metal the scuttle panel expecting to find that someone had welded in a piece of metal where the vin should be,but no,smooth unmolested metal the whole length of the scuttle and most definately original, did bmw ever put the vin in a different location on an e30?

If BMW fitted a new scuttle panel then they re-stamp it with all the original info, if on the other hand it was a panel bought and fitted by another body shop then i dout they would of gone to the bother of re-stamping it.

The funny thing was that the other numbers on the scuttle more over to the passenger side were present, does anyone know what they mean?
