An opportunity has arisen whereas I may sell the M3 but unsure as of what price to put her up for..

Car details:

June 1990 M3 2.3 brilliant red 154k (km)
Imported October 1998
4 previous UK keepers
Recaro cloth interior (highbacks)
Electric windows
Air conditioning
AC Snitzer springs
She has also had the ARB replaced and poly bushes installed.

Since I have had her I have completed the following work:

Exhaust middle section (supersprint) and back box (Evo II)

Rear discs and pads and shoes

1 new fog light

Short shift

Powersteering bush/bracket and alternator bushes (poly)

A few cosmetic changes like the bumper and bonnet seals, clear indicators, smoked side repeaters

The car has an air bag from standard which I have replaced with a new M-Tec II wheel costing £200 I have also replaced the gear knob and gaiter (just because I wanted an illuminated one) cost £90.

Laserline cat 1 alarm £275.

Replaced the plugs and oil, just to be on the safe side.

The car has never had a stereo installed, so has no Radio antenna. I have installed an Alpine Stereo with a MP3player interface and two front speakers £400.

I purchased a second set of 16'' BBS wheels which I have had powder coated and shod with a new set of T1rs. The original wheels have good F1s left no kerbing but a few scratches (I am very fussy).

I had the car rolling roaded at the weekend and she is giving out a healthy 222 bhp.

Things left to do are:

Small repair to drivers seat and gear box oil leak (coming from a small breather hole??????).

Don't think I have forgotten anything..

I took my time finding this car and am really pleased with her, if funds allow I will keep the car, just need somewhere to store her..

So any idea on how much she is worth???

Cheers

That is the exact car I want, only with a blown engine so I can throw my S50 in and not feel guilty..

I'm bloody drooling. Brialliant red looks awesome on these. It has Air-con and high-back recaro's. What more does it need? Well, 16" genuine 5 stud Alpinas for me but hey..Who's got that kind of money?

Keep it unless you really need me to look after it for a bit.

Thats a very complete car that looks like it wants for nothing but pictures can often be mis-leading.

Pricing such a car is difficult, has it had any rust/engine work done? Also, there is often a huge price difference between the standard M3 and the specials. I would say price it at 8.5k and accept no less than 8k.

Just my opinion, im always ready to be proved wrong :D

be honest and tell us the bad points too and where the rust is and we can help!

Opps forgot to mention bodywork!! Not a spot of rust anywhere on the car, front bumper has stone chips and looks like it has been painted before but the rest of the car looks very genuine, and if it has had some paint work done it hasn't had been done recently.

I can see no accident damage or otherwise been over the car with a fine toothcomb. The only things I haven't removed are the skirts and bumpers, which I know can hide a lot and the jacking points look a little suspect but nothing major.

I paid £8500 for her.. Its not really about the money I have got the chance of a E46 M3 (very low miles) but I only have the one garage, room on the drive but I don't like leaving any of my cars outside and I haven't got room to build another or extend my garage..

Like I said jacking points look a little suspect but nothing major.. I was planning to strip the skirts and bumpers over the winter to investigate further. But I really don't think it's a problem.

But it's ok for you to take the piss by making sarcastic remarks like "it's worth £15k"??

Anyway,

getting back to topic.

I'm no valuation expert but if I were in your shoes I would look at other cars and see what they are advertised for and then try to find out what they sell for (easily done by a quick phone call to seller)

The car seems very very nice.

£8000-£9500?

Anything above this and your getting into Cecotto territory.

i see where you are coming from with the price range but something i think that needs to be pointed out

e30 m3s and their value are a fickle subject imho

my opinion is even tho cecottos can fetch 9.5 k plus i think its misguided in saying that a non special edition car cant fetch more

ie just because its a cecotto doesnt in my eyes mean it has an automatic worth
these cars can be and are on the whole full on money pits
i would and so would many many e30 m3 owners with hindsight buy the best example car they could afford as this is far better financially in the long run

my point being that a piece of shit cecotto is not worth more than this car
just because of what it is and i would much rather own a nice should we say normal version even if its far higher in price than the cecotto, ravagalia etc

very very nice examples of any m3 are like rocking horse sh1t
this car from what i can see is certainly worth a view and if its how it looks and i dont doubt its not in my eyes is not going to be a cheap car

i guess it woukld be a decision between kudos and spunking thousands at a special edition or buying a car that may not have that special edition "attraction" but was ten times the car mechanically and bodywork wise and inthe long run even if the purchase cost was 2,3,4k more you would still at the end of the day be far better off financially and still own a much finer unmolested example that kept that way will not loose money

just my thoughts and observations

Well said John, although i own a 'special edition' i dont regard it as being worth more than any other M3 of similar condition.

The trend at the moment seems to be that cecotto's fetch top money but i dont really see why - they are essentially the same as a late spec car like this one.

With the exception of evo sport's and evo 2's i dont really think the special editions are worth the extra money they seem to sell for.

My estimate of 8.5k was based on what i think my car is worth as they are in similar condition

just to clarify
i do think in th the market place the cecottos ,ravagalias do carry a premium and rightly so

but only if compared to a "normal" m3 of same condition ,mileage etc etc etc

if the "standard" car is a better car as regards condition, mileage etc i dont think it should limit the selling price of that car beacuse its "standard"

Thanks for your replies guys, I wanted honest opinions.. I have only had the car since February this year and if I can find somewhere to store her I wont sell, im just covering all my options.

I think if I were to sell for £8500 I would remove the Steering wheel, the gear knob and the stereo, as I don't think these will decrease the value. I think I would also put the original 16'' BBS wheels back on.
