how to differentiate-325is 2.5 from325is 2.7

bmw junkies
my cuzin just bought a 1992 bmw325is and says its a 2.7 because it has the original alpina air-flow metre, but robot-to-robot its going head to head with bmw2.5 engines.
how can we distinguish the proper engine capacity?

check to see if its got alpina chip. If it has its probably 2.7
