I used Castrol B373, SAE 90 in mine. About £5 per litre, high pressure mineral based
The dealers use Castrol SAF-XJ, SAE 75W-140. Ive heard of people paying upto £22 per litre for this stuff though
but it is fully synthetic
Or you can get Comma LSD oil from any decent motor factors at about £3 per litre

SAF-XJ is the modern BMW recommendation, when the car was built B373 was the BMW spec' oil. I've used B373 in dozens of these diffs without problem.
£4 a litre V £17 a litre, you pays your money and takes your choice.

Cheers people
Next question - how much oil is needed to fill the diff to the level it is normally at, from empty
(IE, a fresh oil change)
