I have been thinking of lowering mine in the coming month's but find the more i look at it standard the more i like it and does 40mm on a E30 make that much difference.Plus were i live is hell for speed humps and most of my work takes me on country roads that are not the best.My last car was lowered 40mm all round and would catch up all over the place. So do i live it alone and spend the cash on engine bit's.
Here it is as it stand's now.

Wez....I reckon it'd look well sweet dropped 40mm.
It's not a massive drop, but it suits the car...I think it'd look great especially with the Pinas!

Nice 40mm drop will be good I reckon Wez.

Mine sorted now Mark! Thank god.
That was just too low. Caught on everything.
-40mm looks good, but it's not so low that you hit everything i.e. pebbles and ants.

A yay for a 40mm drop from me.
80mm drop on a motor you use on country roads would be a nightmare. Trust me I know. I had to lower the kerb stone on my driveway to get my last motor on and it was only 2 inches high.

Got me thinking again the other thing to this is when i had the service2 done i asked my bmw guy to check all the suspension(shocks, bushes etc)and he told me they are all fine. Now this guy if anything was wrong would not think twice on telling you

he even knows i do most of it myself so he is not out to make money out of me.So i was thinking if it's not broke or old leave it till it is.Does 40mm make that big difference to the handling as it is very good now

It won't make a massive difference (just springs)...
The lower centre of gravity (slightly!) will be good for cornering.
If you like a bit of drift it's good....less body roll.
If you go for a proper suspension kit, including dampers, then it would be noticeably better for sure.
You won't be happy till you do it!!

dude, dont drop it!
make it a sleeper
lots of folding spent on engine and brakes is the way froward! must say the 'pinas look sh%t hot!
I think the touring handling is a bit less skittery than the saloon\coupes anyways, due to the extra weight over the back.
Plus if your dampers and springs are ok, then no real point.
just my opinion tho-feel free to do what you like
SWEET RIDE DUDE!!

Here it is.....
People say 60mm front 40mm rear.....
My car is 40mm/40mm front/back....
What do you think?
Bit lower than standard makes a big difference.
If you're going for a full kit then it's definately worth it...

Isn't this site addictive for making you wanna buy stuff for your car!
I will eventually get coilovers for mine I think....So I can set the ride height and stiffness to what I want!

E30WEZ-just voted mate (now 2 for keeping it stock)
that said-dave's touring is one MEAN piece of kit
i just dont like lowered cars due to the reduction in quality of ride.
if you're gonna lower it, -40mm is about the max (imho)

Wez, how's this for a thought??
If you're torn between the standard and -40mm, why not put Sport springs on the front? That'll lower it 15-20mm. Not a lot, I know, but it's visually better. If you are plagued with road humps round your way, even -40mm could have you scraping from time to time.
Cheers
Stuart
This is why I no longer drive an E30......
