In a pickle...

Earlier today after a slow journey through town traffic I open my oil filler cap and noticed smoke... I was dismayed instantly. So now I have two questions. It needs a compression test to verify my fears that the rings are fried, I want to know if there is a reliable garage in the Bournemouth area that can do this for me as my local garage has closed.

And secondly, I wouldn't mind replacing the bottom end with a 2.7 one but I've heard gains are minimal unless it's a high compression engine, I could be talking outta my arse here, it's just one of those pub rumours

Ahh forgot to add my car although daily driver and doesn't really brake 3000rpm is used for drifting at least once every two weeks so I need something that will take the constant abuse of hitting the limiter.
