De-chroming

Just curious but exactly why do most owners de-chrome there cars?Can see the reasons for owners of black cars to do it but imho nothing looks better than niceley polished chrome.

Main reason for dechroming is that the sport models came dechromed from the factory, and in the case of the tech 1 the bumpers were also colour coded rather than chrome (but that may have been optional) thus the reason to dechrome (aside from personal preference!!) is to immitate the sport model.

personally i do like the chrome if its in good nick, but i have a black cab (MK2) and was tempted to dechrome completely but in the end went only for the grill. Also note the grill was never dechromed from the factory, they were all chromed (or plastic covered with chrome)

WELL, GOONER i guess for me here in the states given the availability of "good" older car parts my 87 cabrio (delphin grey metallic) the cost was much to exterme AND the black-out looks rather nice in combination with my black top and trim..... and i think it looks pimp!!!!!!

its just personal taste mate i quite like the pre-facelift with chrome bumpers etc but think the facelift models look odd with just the one strip of chrome around the windows thats why i just got rid of mine

My 4dr and tourer came from the factory with black trim thank god!
as e30-320i says, it looks ok pre face-lift but looks very odd otherwise.

Saw a H plate e30 with just the chrome around the window... and to top it all the car was "BEIGE!" (call it gold if you want but its rank all the same!)

I do like my 1987 2dr with chrome bumpers and trim, looks nice on a black car.

I've not owned an e30 with chrome window surrounds, only blacked out, the is and lux models came like this

Thats exactly what i intend to do Kev,apart from wheels ,airbox and possibly exhaust.
