Hi,
i`m a newbee! :D
I bought my first Bm, a 1990 318i a couple of days ago.
It`s got a bit of a rattle, camshaft is worn and so are a couple of followers and lifters. The body seems very good though!
Do they all, from 1990, have abs and catalytic converters?
My back brakes locked up big time yesterday, so if it`s got abs i think i`m in trouble!
I `ve been reading a couple of posts on the forum, it looks great

Hey mate, welcome.
Sounds like you have a good deal IMO, as long as you got it cheap winkeye mechanicals can be much easier and cheaper to fix properly than body work.

And if it's just a 318, depending on your skills you can probably pick up a good used engine and box for the price of a new camshaft!

Anyway keep us posted on how you get on :D

hey dude! welcome!

if your m40 1.8 is sounding a bit tappety, try taking off the rocker cover and cleaning the oil drip pipe that lubricates the cam.

as for the rear lock up-try posting in the tech section and i'm sure several folk will help!
