Your point of this post does'nt seem to have imerged from what you have typed there dude. We obviously like to change slight mod's on our car's to mark our teratory but most of us like to keep the "Old skool" essence of the E30 so "Heavy" modding is not what we have in mind
Maybe you should put this post up on a chav site and you will get the response you are looking for!

Exactly, not many of us like to see cars ruined like you've done with that thing you put up in the photo section, so I don't think think your post is relevant to the majority.jonbuoy wrote:Your point of this post does'nt seem to have imerged from what you have typed there dude. I don't think there's a point in chucking money at a car just to make it look "different", as a large number of things you can do to an E30 will ruin it. Better to have a standard looking car than a car which people laugh at.
No offence intended of course.

I like to modify my car, I'd like to go all the way, but all the way to me and all the way to someone else isn't the same, I'd rather keep mine 'DTM', and not add spoilers and bumpers that suit todays cars, the E30 was designed in the early 80's and modern mods don't suit it.

Genuine BMW is better quailty than big fibreglass bodykits and other general 'add-ons'.elf wrote:but quality definately amiss.
Reason we dont do huge mods to our cars is often as we cant afford it, or spend our money on what we want to. Also people like me like the origional look of an E30, i wouldnt have bought one to cover it up in a new crazy body kit. Its hard to improve on the near perfection of the BMW origional parts in my opionion.

I popped up there today as well, but didn't pay the outragous fee of £20.00 to get in, just went to be nosey..
Did see an E30 cab in silver with a guy in the back either filming or taking pictures of an E36 behind them..!!
Any way, there were some very nice cars there, and each to their own I suppose, but when you look at it, I would like to think that most of us with an E30 will get their money back when they come to sell it on.. I can't see anyone paying 7-8K for a wizzed up 1.2 corsa..!!
or even more for a saxo or punto!!
It's a case of too much disposable income (or mummy and daddy!!)
Keep your modified motors to the chavs.>!!

as above really, most of us prefer the original look of the e30 with some subtle visual improvements.i cant really be bothered with the whole fibreglass bodykit/rediculous graphic on little cars scene, they think theyre doing something individual but copy every other like minded person.when youve seen one ott fibreglass kitted car, youve seen them all
ive also not got much time for the concours lot,its a car not an ornament, use it for what its intended, saying that though,i can respect the time and effort someones put in to their project when theyre done to a high quality,i much prefer go over show though, but thats only my opinion

I think unless you do shows which a lot of you dont, you wont understand what elf is saying. I'd like to think we all work hard for our money and we all like to spend it in different ways. I run the door of a wine bar when i'm home at the weekends and i watch guys come in and spend £100 + getting smashed and falling all over the place. Personally I'd rather spend that money on my car, but at the end of the day, that's me and they are who they are. I think you have to experience the feeling of being somewhere like Max Power or another big show when you have thousands of people standing ther admiring your car to understand why people like myself and elf spend so much money and effort on our cars. My car is alos known World wide cause of the several features i've had and i'm proud of that fact, not to mention the sucky, sucky it gets me
.
And to the "BMW is close to perfect" comment, when i last took my car to my local dealers, even the manager came out to look so i think any make of car can be improved on. My car is also not a a garage queen. I drive it every weekend and enjoy it, i then drive it to shows and win awards cause i simply look after it. Most on the zone are quiet open minded and appreciate time and effort spent on a car regardless of who owns it, but there are still some here who slate anyone who dares to stray with the styling of their car. I watched Gouki get slated when he 1st posted pics of his car here and i felt ashamed cause the Zone has always been a welcoming place for eveyone, but some of the comments were just not nice. As a result he's slowly changing his car to standard to fit in and it's things like that, that is the ugly face of the zone. I love big wheels and big kits and big ICE and the rest of it, and any BMW i buy regardless or how rare it is will get the fcuk chopped out of it and will get a bling colour too and if anyone dont like it well my big black booty is ready to be kissed
Nothing personal intended of course cause i love you all, but you can still kiss my booty

Take what? As far as I can tell, everyone's responded quite reasonably. As is usual for the Zone.elf wrote:thanks for comments like i said,i can take it.
Well your grammar screams "14 year old Pikey". Try using some spaces after the full stops, and maybe the odd "I". Or get your kids to type for you.elf wrote:this is an e30 zone isnt it.modified or not.im no chav got 3 kids im 40 years old and live in essex.

kidsinister calm down mate. I think elf's original thread has been mis-understood. It was aimed at me and the other lovers of modded cars here.
I just think you're being a bit harsh on the poor man with your 14 year old Pikey comment

Oh, I'm quite calm. Hey, I'm still half asleep!
He's a grown up, and as he insists, he can take it.
His original post seems to say that we would love to mod our cars like he and thee, but don't have the bottle. Which is bollocks, and intended to stir something up. I make no apologies for being less forgiving of this than others, but since keyboard wars are generally frowned upon here, I'll leave it.
In closing, Elf: I have nothing against modding, but more for performance & handling, which I believe to be more worthy than bling, and show & shine trophies; but hey if that's what floats your boat, go for it. It doesn't make you right and me wrong; just different.

I can bloody see that
It's cool though. I'm sure the World is big enough for us all
The thing is i like picking up strays on the stree and feeding them a big black char grilled sussage, but they tend not to want to eat it with a normal looking car, but they have a Insatiable apetite for munching when the car looks blinged

i think im cut from the same cloth as you kidsinister,i prefer go to show in a sleeper style,i dont really see the point in having power then slowing it down with the weight of all the fibreglass stick on bits and ice installs.i dont really go to the big shows anymore because it tends to be like a giant edition of Max Power."oh look, there a saxo with bodykit, graphics, neons and ice, next to a peugot with bodykit, graphics, neons and ice which is next to a golf with bodykit, graphics, neons and ice..." etc etc, maybe im gettting old

Fuzzy your just too fussy. I dont drink or smoke. Modding is my hobby and i only go to a few shows in a year cause i dont see the point in competing with Saxo's etc, but i do enjoy the show buzz and meeting and chatting to like minded people
Besides Fuz most modded big kitted cars will leave your car for dead, so you can have both power and fibre glass

blimey feel guilty now started something here.
i didnt suggest all zoners should mod there cars like me and bootyman, just would be nice to see more at shows, like i said this is an e30 zone is it not.dont see anywhere it says modded e30,not welcome.i have superchip k+n air filter straight thru stainless zorst and 100 bhp of nos.
nuff power 4 me 290bhp rolling road tested.
also i have proper reiger kit no fibre glass its moulded plastic,no filler.thats for a previous comment
20 grand done on interior and exterior, because i like it.still like standard or wouldnt go to gaydon and wouldnt be on this site.seen bad cars like a golf gti with e36 front end lambo doors
he got feature in fast car yet i beat him at trax show
i can take stupid comments bootyman, respect for actually knowing where im coming from.whats the use in having a site and we all drive same color same cc same everything.BORING

likewise mate,i dont drink or smoke and regard my car as my hobby as well, were just coming at it from different angles, but with a wife and 2 kids its a slow process, but in time i will be realising 400bhp.you must attend different shows then because the majority of the showcars ive seen have little 1.4 or 1.6 engines with all the stick on bits, but then like i said, ive only been to 1 big show in the last year.i tend to prefer the local meets like passionford, retro cars and of course e30 meets for a more balanced selection of cars to look at

That's my point exactly about selecting the shows i go to. I missed Doni cause i had a feeling it would be crap. It was hard to say no, cause Fusion wanted me to be on their stand, but at the end of the day, if i don feel comfortable then i wont go regardless of who wants my car on their stand. My car is all bough and paid for by me with very little assistance from any sponsors for the presice reason that i didn't want to be told what to do by anyone
Elf dont worry mate. There are a few underground hardcore modders here. They just like to stay hidden
Besides i was at the National BMW at Doni at the end of last year and won Best Paint, Best Convertible and Best Modded even though most of the cars there were quiet normal, so people do appreciate a nicely modded car. As for kits, mine was £7k when my car was done so i'd hope it's not just cheap fibre glass

Kid's you're looking at the bottom end of the modded scene. Most normal E30's dont hardly move either
Go to the top end and you will see cars pushing 1,000 bhp+
Besides like elf say's, wouldnt the World be a boring place f we all like stock cars with a bit of power
If i ever win the lottery, the 1st thing i'll do is buy every E30 for sale and mod it

as ive said before,i do appreciate any well modded car thats been done to a high standard, its just at the big shows all you get is more of the same, lots of different cars with the same type of bodykits, graphics, neons and lambo doors and flip paint jobs,i just get bored when thats all you get to look at.i havent seen your cars 'in the flesh' bootyman but the pics look good, prefer the red one,im not to keen on the blue though for some reason.do you use them as everyday cars?

If I may get highbrow for a minute and paraphrase Voltaire:
"I disagree with what you've done to your car, but I will defend with my life your right to do it."
(And my right to take the piss when it's done.
Anyway, I'm off to Tescos (in my daily used Alpina!) coz I'm hungry.

I'm not too keen on the blue one either and that's why it's being broken at the moment. I do agree with you about 20 cars all looking similar at shows though. The problem is modding is expensive as we all know and the market is dropping out of them, so you tend to see the same cars at the same shows over and over again for years. I'm not like that though. This is the last year i'm using my car for shows and i'm retiring after that. To be honest i'd rather go to a lakeside meet than some of the shows.
I use my car at ever opportunity and whilst most cars get trailored to shows, i blaze mine down there, polish it and still get a crowd cause you wont see a car like mine anywhere else. I dont the 2.7 does it justice, so if i get some spare money, i will go for a big bhp transplant like Dips

Kid's you should see what i've done to the Motorsport them. It's as wide as my arse and that is wide
I'm also painting it lime green with purple velvet interior. Proper pimp. And yes i do agree about the 5% bit, but what an exciting 5% though

elf mate, dont take it personal. Just let it pass over your head. At the end of the day we all love our cars regardles of whether they are standard or modded. Besides, like i always say, as long as it's your own money you're spending, you have the right to do how you pleaze and with that i've earnt my dollat for the day and i'm off to my apartment for some pasta and Kung Fu DVD's

what are you talking about? no bodies arguing about standard or modded, me and kidsinister are saying we prefer a more standard sleeper look with big power engine over you and bootymans bodykit look, nobody said its completely standard,we just prefer to spend money on going fast.

I was brought up on Custom Car and Street Machine magazines, reading bout modified yanks and Hot Rods (personal fave Ford Model A 1931 Tudor sedan 350ci, 350th gearbox, dark blue with ghost flames) so have never got into the bodykit thing unless it's replicating factory kits like the Vauxhall Chevettte with an HSR kit on it.
My 325i tourer is being modified subtly with Hartge wheels, and stripes, but the suspension is K&W 60/40, H&R ARB's, strut brace as I want it to handle like a gokart but not attract attention. Cloth recaros, done the big stereo before so just replacement speakers and single cd player.
I would like a 400bhp tourer, on the floor running Centerline Auto Drag wheels (perhaps tubbed at the back to run 10â€a wheels), subtle smoked windows, sparco buckets, 3â€a harnesses, FULL roll cage, plumbed fire extinguisher covered in Rolex Blue paint (TVR colour) but no kit, ok mabey an IS front spoiler

It just comes down to bragging rights in the pub.
No offence and I respect anyone who can make a 1000bhp car but what's the point if you cant put the power down see linkbootyman wrote:Kid's you're looking at the bottom end of the modded scene. Most normal E30's dont hardly move eitherGo to the top end and you will see cars pushing 1,000 bhp+
