Hello
I was just reading about some dude lossing fuel from his exhaust don't no much about that but it reminded me to ask about My M3 and it's flame throwing antics whilst changing up from 2-3 and 3-4 at about 6500-6800.
Any one know why and is it usual, bad or not a problem.
It is funny at night though.

I read a thread about this on S14 started by Demlot, as his was doing it, mine also does it, but not only at high revs, my rear bumper is no longer white where the exhaust exits, and it has got a lot worse since I've fitted the full race system, it sounds like a rally car too!
It seems to be normal on the S14....

whats this borewash about? i cant see how too much fuel could do damage while running
if u have an m3 im expecting you pop flames due to the throttle bodies. im expecting the jets are really big and may be when you take ur foot off the throttle to change, the inertia of the gasses going in pulls a bit of fuel as the butterflies are closed
then the hot exhaust gets the fuel to self ignite.
im interested about this borewash tho. and S14, is that 280SX turbo nissan or something else?

S14 is the engine code for the engine in an E30 M3, well before the Nissan S14 came along..tonyppe wrote:whats this borewash about? i cant see how too much fuel could do damage while running

It is known that over fuelling S14's are not a good thing, and is quite a common cause of engine failures.

bore wash can happen when running, not all the fuel gets ignited and the excess washes the oil off the bores causing accelerated wear

Not if the fuel you use is LPG.zaust wrote:you get bore wash when your dumping unburnt fuel through the motor causing the bores to become bigger. .

o i see, the petrol washes the oil around the sides of the BORE, making the rings wear and then the bottow would need a re-build :S
