Is 40mm a decent enough drop, on a touring? or can you go lower still? I can't seem to find any springs lower than 40mm anyway. Also it will be wearing 17-18" rims.

Webby.Depends what wheels your going to be running mate.40mm may look good with say some Alpina reps or similar. But if you want more of a slammed 'Euro' look, then 60 all round would be cool. The only thing is, youve gota think about rubbing/scraping issuses. 'DaveTouring' has an Mtech2 Touring, with what i htink are 60mm all round springs (their saloon springs, so obviously not a 100% fit) but it rubs a bit on the back.
But then again it sits as if its about 80 mm at the back, so maybe hes just got shagged springs, oh and the fact he had a trolly jack and LSD in the boot
Id probably go for 60mm all round tbh.

Sam, my springs (which are now back on!!) are -40mm PI all round.
Have a look at how it sits on BBS's in the photo gallery to see what you think....
Much lower than that and you will have clearance and handling issues in my opinion, unless you go for a full good quality kit.
I did at one stage have the -40mm in the front, and -60mm saloon springs in the rear (as mentioned above) but with the extra weight of the Touring, it sat even lower! About -80mm, which was rediculous!
60mm all round would look good I think......but for now -40 is enough for me.

Any lower than 40mm and you'll have to look at camber correction if you want your tyres to last any decent amount of time.
I also found the car handled much better at 40mm that it did at 60mm.
