As some of you may know, I'm doing an engine transplant.

BUT

I keep thinking about buying the E30 M3.

My plan for the convertible is to tec2 kit it, lower it and obviously I'm putting in another engine.

What's going for the cab in my mind is..........

Roofless
Newer than M3, its a '93
Fast, when engine in!

but, I cant stop thinking M3.

One minute I'm thinking

Do conversion, enjoy the car for the first half of the summer and then sell it and buy an M3

Next minute I'm thinking, Keep the convertible because it was cheap and now with the new engine, it should be fun.

Like the title says, just thinking out loud but anybodies input welcome.

The M3 will be faster and better i handling well depending on engine. i bet you would enjoy driving an M3 more. But would enjoy getting the roof down in the summer

M3 cab?

Fact is you will loose money on modding your cab, i think you would be better buying an M3, completely depreciation proof motoring :D

id go for the cab as i was disapointed with m3 and cabs are much better looking as well as you having the freedom of which engine your goin to transplant. plus m3 is left hand drive so your gona look like a dick eratically driving on the worng side of the road and you'll kick yourself having to be on tiptoes all day cos you cant see past the car you want to overtake!!

I dont know the details of what your doing to your cab so maybe i was mistaken in that comment mate. Just normally you loose money on modified cars.

Ah ok, i stand corrected then. Just in most cases people will never get the money back on modifications.

Have you considered dropping in an s52 or something? That way you could have the best of both

Ive considered everything but its not just the engine of the E30 M3, its the car as a whole package. That attracts me towards the E30 M3

S52 is E36 M3 engine. Whatever engine you transplant in to your cab it is not going to hold its value unless its a direct replacement, eg 1.8 M40. Imagine trying to sell it with an M30 or whatever in it, people with think its a turd and will doubtless pay more for a tidy version of the same car but with the proper 1.8 lump in it. Sad but true I'm afraid.....
