Something weird happened yesterday, I was reading about my sticky throttle pedal, all the previous posts saying how the cable shreds and grates on the inside of its carrier. Thinking "that cant be my problem because it had a new cable 4 months ago" I carried on and thought I'll get it looked at later. Then on my way back from getting a pizza last night I felt some resistance as usual, pressed a bit harder and my foot hit the floor, the revs hit the floor and I coasted to a stop on the dual carriageway! the RAC managed to fabricate a temporary one to get me out of the hole, but a warning to all, if its at all sticky, replace it ASAP. for the sake of a tenner its worth it not to be stuck in the middle of the road in fog!

Thats funny... i was luckier when the cable on the 328i dies last year, as I was on the way to a Regatta (rowing), and had gunned it there the whole way, overtkaing manouvers the lot on some country lanes... anyway I pull into the field next to the river and throttle resistance goes, snapped cable.
I mean what are the chances of it happening arriving at the destination with minutes to spare for the first race?!
BTW - if its stiff change it, as it was a pain in the arse waiting for tow truck in a field!

thats why you should always have a piece of string in the car, tie it to the throttle and thread it out of the bonnet, in the window and Bob's your uncle, hand throttle!

Happened to me once in a 2.8 capri - just adjusted the throttle stop & drove it home about 30 miles like that! No worries...
