Hi all,
Must be 3 months now since I last posted on here and I'm very relieved to see it's still thriving! Well over 10k members and so many new names posting.
For those who donÔš't know, I took my 325 Tourer off the road late last year due an offer I couldnÔš't refuse Ԛ—a my old manÔš's 1996 30k mile Honda Accord 2.0 Ԛ—a for nowt! All I had to do was fly up to Scotland and drive it back. Much as I love the beemer, I sank so much money into it last year that I needed some cheap, reliable transport for a while to recuperate financially. However, weÔš're now planning to move up to a bigger property and I cant afford to keep that much cash sitting on the drive doing nothing, so sadly itÔš'll be going up for sale soon, once I get a chance to clean it up and finish off a few jobs to make it perfect.
Trouble is, I fired her up for the first time in 3 months tonight Ԛ—a and I instantly remembered why I love that car! Just the sound it makes at tick-over is simply delicious Ԛ—a and when you blip the throttle it sends tingles down my spine. I was tempted to give it a blast around the block, but being a law-abiding motorist I decided against due as the tax has run out. I was impressed that it started right on the button after all that time despite it being below freezing out there.
IÔš'll tell you something else. When I first got the Tourer, I wasnÔš't sure what all the fuss was about with rear-wheel drive. Truth was, I gradually learnt it all without realising it. Now IÔš'm back to front-wheel-drive-wrongness, IÔš've suddenly realised what itÔš's all about. Going round corners under power is now frightening rather than fun, panicky rather than predictable, dangerous rather than devine.
IÔš'm going to cry the day that car gets driven away by someone else.
It's been a while, but the hearse still breaths

pete accord 2.0 sounds
as you say you have ploughed money into the tourer
and with 1 click of a key you were again excited
no contest
for sale
honda accord 2.0 1996
blah blah blah
you know it makes sense

Cant see how a FWD motor is more frightening round a corner than a RWD one, which one is going to understeer predictably and which one is going to catch you out and leave you looking out the side window heading for a curb?

I think you get a lot more warning in RWD. That warning comes in the form of a little slide... but its easily corrected unless you've really stuffed it up and it looks and feels great! FWD just ploughs straight on and your only chance is to slam it into the corner and hope the back doesn't come round, cos if it does you're on the magic roundabout until zebedee says stop
