Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I really need a quick answer.

Will I do any harm running the engine without the exhaust manifold on??

I need to move the car urgently. Its parked next to a stream and the bank has given way - lost about 4-5foot of earth and now the car is only about 2 foot from the drop into the stream 8O

Ive thought about this too, i dont think it will but the hot gases might damage the car body/bonnet.

Agree with Demlotcrew.

Maybe protect plastic and paint with foil, shiny side out to deflect heat - should be ok for a short period.

Please please please record the sound it makes.

I havent got the manifolds with me, anyway I would need to unbolt the steering rack and remove the steering joint to fit it.

The car wont be running that long, 2-3mins at the most, just long enough to do an 18 point turn to get it round the hole in the ground and off the driveway, I can then get a tow rope on it to move it.

LOL - dual carriageway - LOL

She's gonna run load as hell with out the manifold on - this has got to be recorded, crack your bonnet open as well as mentioned before use plenty of heat protection as to not damage any thing delicate + most important - DON'T GO SWIMMING IN THE E30!!!!!! be carfull

Well that was loud 8O

Didnt get a recording of it, just wanted to get it moved. Glad I did aswell, the driveway has cracked up underneath the car so I dont know how much longer it would of stayed out of the stream :?

On a positive side, it was the first time Ive started the S50 in the E30 :woohoo:

I remembered to pull the plugs out and turn it over to build up oil pressure because I hadnt done that as yet and TBH I still wasnt sure it was going to start. It took few turns to fire up but it did :D

It ran a bit rough, but it doesnt have the O2 sensors connected and it probably sounded rougher because of the lack of any exhaust at all.

Still, atleast I know it starts and all my wiring works :D

Thanks for the thought  but thank god I wont be needing it.

If the car had gone down into the stream it would need a crane to lift it out - its about a 6 foot drop and the car would probably have ended up on its side 8O

Might have yeah

But, the farm down the road may of been the cause. They had some of the banks collapse on their land a few weeks ago, because they started to use the stream to run water from their higher land above our house down to the farm and it could of been the extra water thats done the damage.

Will be talking to the farmer tomorrow and see what he has to say about it.
