IÔš've been doing a few upgrades on and off over the last couple of weeks, full leather, map reading light mirror etc. But this weekend I fitted the proper e30 rear blind parcel shelf. They are quality!! Driving it about last night I had none of the normal grief with dazzle from behind.
Anyway thatÔš's besides the point Ԛ—a while doing it I noticed that the new rear seat I have has a removable centre arm rest Ԛ—a then if you pull the Velcro panel forward it exposed the pressed out panel shape on the rear bulk head that allows for the fitting of the optional ski bag (not sure if it was just on the ixÔš's). So I couldnÔš't resist it Ԛ—a set of mole grips and a screw driver to start Ԛ—a about 45 seconds later I had access to the boot. Ran a sharp Stanley knife around the bit of boot trim across the back of the boot and I now have through-load capacity from the boot!!! Great for the trips to B&Q where before I used to have to poke the end of the copper pipe / wood etc through the passenger window and in to the hedge!
Would be interested to know if anyone else has done this?

Loads of people mate, i did it to my last 2 e30s to let the bass from the subs come through.
If you want to trim it use a bit of old door rubber and bobs your uncles nan's mother you have a ski hatch.

I thought it was a bit too easy for other people not to have tried!!
I was wondering about putting some door rubber around the edge, but with a dremel I managed to take the sharp edge off - managed to run my finger tips around it with out slicing them off so it should be ok!

I just fitted the rubber to make it look factory, worth doing if you can find an old bit laying about or take a bit from the scrappers.

I just like the comedy looks you get from people when they see you feeding several metres of pipe in the boot

I hadn't thoght of that - it must lookn a bit strange.
It's also great being able to get bits out the boot with out leaving the car!!
I may stick a bit of cargo mesh over the back incase anything decides to attack me under heavy breaking!!
