Well finally got my carpet out of my tech 1 after stripping the interior out to investigate leeks/wet carpet.

Good new is after romoving rear quarter card i can see that both rear inerer arches have been replaced probaly not long before i brought the car in 2003.

Bad new is some real bad rust around where the accelerator pedal meets the pedal floor mount

Passenger side was not too bad but may still need a bit of attention.

Any opinions or advise welcome

yes i though it was a worth while mod to the M3 if that what you are on about. it cost me nothing to do and saved a few kg's, didnt see the point in spending Ԛ£1000 in carbon

1st things 1st Leak Test??
Use a garden hose or watering can to imitate rain fall a search for leaks, scuttle panel, bulkhead, screen seal, door seals & door membrain..

Try to make holes in the rust with a screwdriver..

If no holes appear and the metal is strong grind out a much as possible and treat it with a Rust Inhibitor then prime with an anti rust primer..

Holes!! The only way to tackle rust is to cut it out, i have replaced both these places on a mates sport by cutting out the section then fabricating and welding in new metal..

If you have a compressor, airsaw, mig welder & some common sense go 4it..:D

Cheer bullit, ill try that for the leaks.

I think some of it will grind out and can be rust treated, but the bit by the accelerator pedal deffo has a small hole.

Deffo a 3rd party job just dont have the kit for this kind of work

Has anyone had this type of problem and got it welded up?

Just wondering roughly how much this is gonna cost to put right :?
