so is your car a face lift or pre face lift. Platic bumper (face lift) chrome bumpers (pre face lift). Those lights are for a Face lift car, the back panels are different.

dont bloody do it!!!

but its up to you, i think them lights are th newer style ones as he is saying there not for m3's. but some cabs came with newer style lights.

are your reverse lights vertical or horizontal. if horizontal then they are newer style so yeh they would work.

i have the old style rear lights that go vertical on my cabriolet.

Whats the main difference from both clusters new an old?. If i got these rear lights will they not fit where my lights go as in are the sizes of the rear lights different? My car is f reg and came with chrome bumpers etc as its has the trims around the screen and window frames still chrome.

My auto electricaian said aslong as the screw hole line up and the lights actually screw fit to the rear panel, he can connect the wiring up if different, individually to make the lights work as normal as there only a case of power an earth to each bulb.

Hence why i ask, any ideas folks?

cheers

the lights a different sizes, will need to do lots of modding to the rear panel to make them fit, so its not worth it.

the actual length of the lights are different? i.e horizontally looking at them?

or are they different in height looking at them vertically.

I really like the lights and if its just a little bit of trimming to the rear panel i don't mind, cos i think they'll look the danglies once fitted to my cabby.

cheers

They are not a straight swop, facelift lights are taller, and not as wide as pre-facelift, and the bolt holes are in different places.

ok fair enough that puts them out the window then.

Surely there must be a place that makes them for a cabriolet and pre face lift design?

Seen some on net for cabs and the older style design, but they look kinda poo in comparison to these lights, which i really wanna get now, lol

hope u can help peeps

p.s whats the correct name for this design of tailight? are these smoked led rear lights? or crystal, aint to sure on what there called, but i know there hard to get hold of for a cab and old metal bumper design rear panel

The ones you've posted a picture of are smoked crystal lights.

You can buy smoked lights that look totally original, but are smoked, about the best you can get in my opinion...

damn, really had my heart set on buying those smoked crystal lights, who manufactuers them if anybody knows?

the smoked lights are ok i suppose i will settle for them if i can't find them crystal smoked rear lights.

i'll try and post a pic of my cab then you can see which ones would suit it aswell, its navy blue but been resprayed with a flick of purple in it, very slight dropped on its ass all the way round 60mm or lower with koni adjustables, an some 17inch chrome rims, bm hardtop, black leather, thought crystal smoked would set it off a treat

cheers again :D
