a couple of things
1. how many mpg to 2.5 e30 owners get? im getting about 150 - 180 mpg and 30 quid lasts me about 6 days. my engine has done 65000 miles roughly and i have had it serviced regularly. i heard talks of temperature senders n stuff, what do i look for? is this mpg normal?

also
2. where in the bloody hell does the mod chip go? i think it should be ariving any day soon, and i dunno where it goes!

thanks :)

The chip goes in the ECU, have a look in the articles section, theres a very good fitting guide.

I get about the same mpg in mine, normally less, but most of my journeys are very short.

180 mpg...?

Surely you mean 180 miles per tank... I could get 300 out of my 325i Sport.

The chip fits int he ECU. There is a fitting guide in the Articles section at the top there in the navigation bar...

sorry mate, 150-180 miles per tank! Ԛ¬

the drive to work is an hour, and the drive back is an hour so the journeys are mainly long. how do people get 300 miles to their tank? rite now i normally fill up on a monday and its a few mil above the red. so at 88.9p Ԛ£31 will click off roughly.

do you reckon the temp sender thingy is faulty? sometimes it ticks overa bit quicker than normal but usually its dead on 800 odd (the rev counter is from a 1.8 so i have to do math to work it out)

I post this by way of a comparison but also because I'd love a 325i but fear the extra running costs.

I get 350 miles from a Ԛ£40 full tank in my M40 318i.

150-180 miles sounds horrendous but I guess you must have quite a bit of fuel left in your tank at the end if your refill costs just Ԛ£31.

I've had 390 miles out of a tank in my brothers '90 325i Cab driving down to the south of france, it is very dependent on driving style.

Most cars have about 20-30 miles with the emergency light on. I've pushed about 25 miles on a motorway with the emergency light on the whole time. The needles is below the red at that point!

TBH I'd replace the coolant temp ( blue) sensder just oin case, easy swop and only a few Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£,

my Se does 310 miles on a full tanks, and thats turbochrged and runs injectors 4 times the flow rate of stock.

even with a lead foot, thers an issue somewhere dude

unless its pi$$ing out underneath of course ??

im starting to think it may be this blue thing messing up. sometimes when i start the car, i will go somewhere short. switch off, then if i want to start again within say 15 mins, it turns over for ages before it starts. this happens the odd occasion in a blue moon. i assumed that the choke just flooded it as i switched off.

when i drove the car from carshalton, london, to leeds i did about 15 quid of fuel for roughly 200 miles. so on long journeys its much better. but to cruise at 80-90 you hardly need to touch the accellerator.

cheers for the advice you lot have given! :) driving to cardiff this weekend...
