was just wondering what is a good type of off the shelf oil to put in my 318i m40 engine.
also how much should i use and what type

How will you be driving the car ? Daily driver or track Beast....

I always used Mobil 1 15w50 synthetic. As far as I know, the only synthetic oil you can buy off the shelf in that viscosity, ideal for higher mileages! Gives smooth running without major leaks sometimes onset by using synthetic oil in old engines. Expensive though! I think an M40 takes 3.5 - 4 litres? Correct me if I'm wrong.
