I viewed an E30 earlier and I noticed it didn't have the chassis number stamped into the scuttle, it did have the serial number or whatever the shorter number is.
The owner couldn't shed any light on the matter and had owned the car for a number of years. The scuttle seemed like it was original.
Can anyone shed any light why it might be missing or experience with other cars with no chassis number on the scuttle?
It's a real basic model, so not likely to have been stolen in the past imo.
Cheers
No chassis number on scuttle

Only one reason why the number would be missing from an original panel and thats because someone, somewhere along the line has attempted to hide something about its identity

I totally agree with Dan, if I were you I would proceed very cautiously.
