As of tuesday i can't drive my sport :(

but alas a new chariot has been born, and it's now taxed, mot'ed and insured

i've been taking it to work this week and giving the engine a bloody good service each nite doing a few bits and bobs. As it was running like a bag of poo

My main concern with using it everyday was economy and auto 2.5's are notorious for poor mpg (maybe worse than a 320!)

before i serviced it i got 80miles to Ԛ£20  not good about 18mpg it worked out.

So i've changed the

oil+filter
coolant

new:

sparks
rotor
dizzy cap - old one had 87 stamped on it!
thermostat - engine was on choke all the time

plus a scorpion centre section for better breathing! not, sounds very council, but i love it!

i've been driving about 1/2 motorway and 1/2 town on Ԛ£30 and i've managed 191miles! My mate barely get 250 to a tankfull on his sport!

So thats worked out to 29mpg which i'm well chuffed with and not driving like a saint either 80 plus on the m-way, a bit of boot here and there like normal. I feel the 3.64 diff allows far better high speed economy than my sport with a 3.91, which tbh does about 25 to 28 on long m-way trips.

So going well so far, but as always, this 29mpg was done without cruise control. Which it has fitted but it won't work now :? it did when i bought it. Any ideas guys of what to look for? So i know it can do better!

U will have to wait and see the rudeness at ace cafe end of the month

List of to do's now! which luckily is smaller than jobs done

fix cruise control
remove LSD and fit open diff
find an aerial stalk
fix cd changer, again worked when i bought it
fix wiper modes

Si, check the clutch switch, see if it's sitting properly, also check the single wire that goes into the green plug on the back of the instrument cluster.

Also, if you're speedo isn't working, this will prevent it from working.

Other places to check are if it's plugged in OK at the junction box above the glovebox, and that the throttle cable is still attatched properly.

it don't have a clutch! well sort of

but Demlotcrew has been fumbling in the glove box area when he bypassed the alarm :? i shall phone him and moan!

just filled it up, i had the obc on RANGE and it went down the 9miles and then went blank and flashing _ _ _ _M. So i thought time to fill up as the light had been on for ages, and i could only get 58 litres in so i had 4 left! So i won that battle

so it worked out to 29litres for 196 miles which by my calculations was 30.5mpg! get in my son

Does anyone know if u can have the temp on the obc on degrees but keep the rest of it imperial for MPG and average speed etc? all those 1000,100,10,1 buttons. I've never had an E30 with an obc before!

i just can't get my head around 31oF and it's bloody cold! Or 15.5/100kms for economy! i can work out KM's easy enough.

Oh well, the cruise seems like it's a fairly simple system as far as they go!

Whoever said the 6 button is the poor mans OBC, at least you can choose between temps, and 12/24hr clock!

Cruise has probably just been unplugged, they are usually pretty faultless.

Yes mate,

Transferred like the rest of the money to the Savings account, ready to pay the spandex clad German for the hotel rooms.

Just gotta get Ԛ£150 from Nick, which he has waiting, must pop and see him. Also, need money from Andy, Nick even said he'd lend him money if need be........
