I was given a 1988 325i convertible from a relative who didn't have space to keep it, and I want to restore it. About a year ago the fuel pump on the engine broke and I will need to get a completely new engine to swap. Anyone have any advise for what engine I should purchase/what I should look out for? I don't have an exact price point yet, but if anyone has ideas on different ranges for engine costs/what mechanics would usually charge for that engine, that would be greatly appreciated. I am going to be restoring the rest of the vehicle manually, but that I believe may be the most important first step on my journey.
Any advise even unrelated to the engine is welcome. It's all appreciated appvalley tutuapp tweakbox

You're doing an engine swap because the fuel pump packed up? That seems a bit extreme!

Welcome to the zone mate, lets see some pics of the cab please and have a good look on here first before changing the engine, as said above it`s a bit extreme for just a pump.

Mart.

fuel pumps are straight forward to replace- why remove a good engine for a worn out pump ?- the pumps are pretty hardy, but after 33 years a worn out pump is hardly a suprise..
