Just how rare is aircon in E30s in the UK??

I assume this was optional on all models and rarely selected? Just how rare are the parts and what's the going rate for them?

The condensor, evaporator and receiver drier I'd just buy new and I'd use the compressor from my donor engine, but the aircon switch for the dash, the heater box with space for the exaporator, and the pipework seem to be impossible to find.

Quite rare. I just bought a non sunroof e30 with AC from factory, and have an AC system coming from a donor car to put in my 325i
It was hard to find!
