I've noticed over the past year or so, with the rapid increase in members,
that a lot of people posting for sale or replying to wanted ads have no idea of the value of the part they are selling/buying.
Some of the asking prices for the same item vary wildly.
What does everyone think of having a section with guide prices for S/H parts?
Doesn't need to be too complicated ie. 1 price for item in good working condition and 1 price for mint.
Could be put together by you guys that are always breaking motors as you know the most popular parts and what they fetch. Sort of e30zone ETK price list?
Prices would, of course, still be negotiable between seller and buyer as at the end of the day it's only worth what someone is willing to pay at the time.
If it could be done it would save a lot of time with replies/emails going to and fro.
Ding or bong?

I'd say bong personally... Doesn't take long for someone to be told that their asking price is way off, & if they don't do their research & offer something cheap then someone else gets a bargain!

Someone else suggested this a while back.
As you say, something's only worth what someone is willing to pay.
Let's leave it at that.

tbh this kind of thing is good for those new to e30's.... some people try and take advantage of that fact someone is new by bumping up the price via pm,,,, also some people who are new dont know the value of things for example i sold clear repeaters for a fiver! thinking they are similar to the mk2 golf. in terms of price....
i think this is good,, its all very well for those who have alot of knowledge and experience to slag off the idea,, but it does make a reference and ads to the reputability of the zone, in terms of being a good resource of information

As another person reasonably new to selling parts, I would second that.dark_sounds wrote:tbh this kind of thing is good for those new to e30's.... some people try and take advantage of that fact someone is new by bumping up the price via pm,,,, also some people who are new dont know the value of things for example i sold clear repeaters for a fiver! thinking they are similar to the mk2 golf. in terms of price....

I thought that this topic might cause something of a split, and, while I agree with Ziggy & Zayyans comments up to a point, the fact is that there are 10000+ members and they can't all be experts.
The idea was raised so that the more knowledgeable zoners could pass on their experience to the "dummies" without the constant posts & emails.
So far we have 2 for & 2 against. Only 9996 opinions to go.
