Hi, hoping someone has experienced a similar issue. Have a E30 318IS with an idle issue, it idles okay with the ICV disconnected but it's a little lumpy and inconsistent with idle, sounds like it has a mild cam. With the ICV connected it idles and continues to get rougher until it eventually stalls, then will fire back up again. I replaced and cleaned the ICV and it made no difference, I done my best to try and locate a vacuum leak but to no avail, took it to a local mechanic who couldn't provide much advise told me it was some ecu relay / fault and not to worry about it as it's an old car. With throttle at very low revs it just doesn't seem as response as it could be.omegle xender

Nothing like being fobbed off by a mechanic who can only rely on a computer to tell them which part to fit and doesn't know what he's on about
. Whats the mileage on the car, servicing up to date etc? As you mention the throttle response isn't great and sounds like 'mild cam noise' is perhaps its trying to stall, would you say that's fair? I'd be looking at the fuel system as a starting point. Simple things like changing the fuel filter if it's not been done in a while. Going more in depth removing the inlet isn't a huge job and you could check the intergrety of the vacuum lines to make sure nothing is perished or causing your problem there. While that is off you wouldn't go wrong having the injectors serviced can work wonders in many different areas. Check the fuel flow rate and pressure from the pump to check it is opperating correctly.

Check fuel pump, fuel filter, TPS, AFM and blue temp sensor. For fuel pump take off the back seats and listen for a whine. For tps there's a guide on the wiki, same with blue temp. For afm cut the silicone, take the cover off and clean inside (without touching) by spraying electrical contact cleaner and repeating a few times. Apply liquid gasket and reseal. Check the condition of the carbon rail inside the AFM aswell.
