Hello, I'm just looking for a first car now, my dad has agreed to buy me a BMW E30 after I suggested the idea because I quite like the look and have heard great things about them. I was wondering if you guys had an suggestions to look for or pitfalls to avoid with buying E30's. I will most likely be buying one through craigslist and am looking for a 325is, a 325i, or a 318is. The main thing obviously are E30s are not getting any younger, so look out for RUST,is probably the main thing.Try and buy a car with as much paper work as possible,Service records,MOTs,etc.If you were going to buy a 325i sport remember there could be horrible rust lurking under the body panels.When you finally buy a car remember to change the cam belt ,that is must especially on the M20 engine.I think the 318is is a chain but don’t quote me,Good luck.
