Just found this while doing a search

Looks legit as you can see there is a wider lip than the 15s

Maxilite have been around for a while, they do fuchs replicas for the porkers that seem well-received by the non-purists, along with a few alfa, merc, mini and obviously the Alpina rep wheels. Not verified it myself but they claim to be TUV approved.

They do a range of widths for the porker wheels so I am wondering if they will do a few widths in this 16" wheel. Staggered set of 16 style 5 would be a good wheel to run on keeping the original look and not a headache to replace when potholed.

Obviously we can expect them to be heavier than the 15s, it would be interesting to know the weight difference against the 5 stud e38 style 5 that people run with adapters. Judging by their Alpina wheels I would expect them to be 8-9kg. Not sure of standard 15 bbs weight?

Will be exciting to see the width and offsets, as you say could possibly be staggered. Personally I would have liked more of an m3 replica wheel with the flat lip but these still look like a great option

I weighed one of my original 8x16" Alpinas and it was 8kg dead so if they are not far off at 8.7 for theirs.

I have the Maxilite 15" BBS and can't fault them. Weights exactly the same as the OE versions and comes with 3 year warranty and TUV certification. Definitely not crap replicas of the original.

Yes the fact they are TUV approved is a bonus, and I would much rather these than lenso or other reps. The only other option for 4x100 in 16 are Image wheels, but they're twice the price and twice the headache in the long run

That's not a massive difference to be fair. Coming from a 7.5kg style 5 would the gain in weight be noticeable? Do the lower profile tyres help with the handling?

Well it is over 25 years since I drove on the Alpinas, took them off because they were a theft magnet and tyres were expensive. Ran happily on 15"s for over 5 years. It was the suspension that made the difference, Koni yellows of the day made more difference than any of the tyres.

Generally accepted on here though that 16" is the sweet spot for the E30 (backed up by the fact that Alpina, Hartge etc chose that size)

Problem is now they are even more of a theft magnet and tyres in the correct size for the staggered set are reduced to a handful of far-eastern makes, nothing I particularly trust.

Looks like a good alternative to the OE bbs'

These are now available on the Maxilite website. They are 7j so a 205 50 16 should be the optimum tyre and that gives plenty of choice.

They now have a 17 Alpina rep in 7.5j 4x100 also. It's great to see a company rolling out new products for the e30.

They have been around for a while and in the staggered size as well. TBH I was tempted to get a set of them to run around over pot holes and leave the original unicorns boxed up for special occasions.

Whilst you can tell the BK reps a mile off I doubt most would tell the difference with these unless you had owned a set of originals at some point.

Where did you see those? I looked at the Maxilite web page but nothing other than 7x15 for the e30 in BBS. Got a link?

Thanks :thumb: for some reason they are not showing on the main site that comes up in searches.

If they made a matching 8x16 in that style I could be tempted but I'm a bit committed to the 5-stud route at the moment :?

Could get some genuine 16s 5 lug from Cotswold ;)
Good investment imo, bound to be out of stock in a few years, especially after I told everyone they were in stock on multiple forums/groups
