Have been looking at what to do to get rid of the horrid orange on my rear lights but have not been able to make up my mind what to do so figured I would see what opinions were...

Choices are:
1. Leave well alone - spend the money on better things (like beer or a new cooker!).
2. All Red Lights - Ԛ£200 purchase or Ԛ£16 for can of spray paint (danger of home job is getting picked on by the rozzers, read the threads on this and most people end up with red flashing, not orange).
3. Half Red/Half Crystal - really not keen on this one, seen it on Gouki's, which is OK with all that kit but on an iS, I think it would look wrong.
4. All clear - This might well work, I already have clear front and sides

So come on folks hit me with it!!! winkeye

Or spray the indicators on the standard lights red, and do "the indicator mod" to swap the reverse lights and indicators.

The red spray should be no more than Ԛ£10 by the way, any more and you're being ripped off.

Ive not been pulled yet and have had plenty of plod behind me.

Deffo not the Red/crystal or the all clear ones, standard orange would look better IMO :)

could do with a shop to "try before you buy"... haha

With the swap reverse and idicator, wont that mean I lose the white reversing light? it would look like I was just braking?

Might just be having a stupid moment - been having to think too much today!

That sounds extremely good come to think of it. Can it be done to a standard clear/red/orange series 1 (pre-facelift) tail light? And how does one go about it?

I was thinking of getting the not just smoked, but absolute pitch gloss black lights given my car is gloss black, but you're idea sounds brilliant.

Heres a pic of mine, not the best quality pic but you get the idea!
I used transparent modeling paint, only Ԛ£3 per tin and available in loads of colours/shades.

What do you think?

Simon,

How much did you pay for those? (if you dont mind me asking!) I guess that would be ideal

Eko's do look really nice, but I woul stick with the clear reversing as I have clear side and fronts already, but it would fail MOT, surely!

It does state the indicators must flash orange (well amber to be pedantic), but Tony mate, I've seen yours and they flash red!! Might be OK for plod but did it pass MOT like that?

Hi mate, I won the bidding for Ԛ£112, I sell lighting myself on e-bay, and could have got these trade through my supplier for about Ԛ£180

dan look in articles, it touches on the subject, its an easy enough mod, just change wiring so the indicators flash from reverse light place, but then you get red reverse lights.

the only reason i did not do it is because from the side you would not see them flashing and i dont want some tit running me down.

im pretty sure that by law indicators have to be on the side of the vehicle!! so surely that mod is worthless? good point about people running into u nav
