Has anyone on here dyed a set of door cards?

Interested in what products you used and what the outcome was... Thinking of doing this as I am having difficulty in finding a decent condition sport door cards.

I've been after a anthracite cloth, with black door panel. So was just thinking of dying a set. But not sure what product to use.

any recommendations?

You would need a pray or brush on dye, have you tried Brutus for door cards?

Do you have any pictures of your door cards? The cloth can easily be bonded and the remaining the door panel can be sprayed.

Is there anything you can recommend to use to dye the vinyl. I’ve seen stuff in USA but I can’t get it here in uk.

Do a search on here, someone did do this in the last few months, it could have been in Aus ?

That could have been me.
Recently refurbished a set of Natur vinyl door cards in the cabby - see here and here.

Few important points up-front.

1. My door cards were 100% vinyl (no cloth insert) - may need different dyes/paints for the different materials

2. No radical colour change - I was refinishing (basically) the same colour

As vinyl has a high surface energy, it's quite receptive to the right paint & thorough preparation.
I used Duplicolor vinyl paint in Medium Beige.
Others, e.g. VHT also have a range of vinyl paints, but not in the right shade for me.

If you are planning on a radical colour change (e.g. light to dark) I'd recommend getting the right colour material to begin with - especially for high wear surfaces.
i.e. dark coloured armrest but you might get away with refinishing a lighter colour door card.

5 years ago I had my sport style seats recovered from battered black leather to a red vinyl ( yes I know but it was all I could afford at the time ) That left the door cards handles and footwell speaker panels to have recoloured. I found a company in the Midlands who on me providing a sample of the material was able to supply an exact colour match . So far all's good and has lasted , just make sure like all paint applications spend time degreasing and preparing before applying . The paint was supplied in an aerosol and although I can't be certain I don't think it was expensive ,

Vinylkote is brilliant...I had a 1966 Hillman Minx two tone red and white with vinly red seats which were totally saved with this product...also a Humber Hawk...all those 60's cars were vinyl -tastic !!

What are your current door cards likes? Is it full vinyl with the horizontal lines?
Or a combination of vinyl and Fabric?

E30 door cards are heat sealed (They used hydraulic heat stamp that seals the vinyl down to cloth). The door can't come apart like newer cars, making it more tricky to achieve OEM finish.

Dying cloth isn't the best option.
