Im planning on looking at an E30 325i Cab tommorow in New Cross? Just wondered if there were any tips on Cab buying? Im familer with the the E30 in general, just this would be my first Cab.
It does have a "reconditioned hood" although it does have a 1" tear in it. Expensive to put right? It apparently doesnt leak.
All help is very much appreciated.
Any advice on Cab buying?

This thread might be useful, look at the seals around the roof, the front one that goes across the front and half way back long the door tops is about Ԛ£100 to replace. New roof without any extras would cost Ԛ£500ish fitted. Look at how the windows meet the roof... it can all be adjusted, but the roof can be damaged by ill adjusted windows...
I don't think there's anything specific I can think of though...

check for accident damage; cabs twist easier than tin-tops - look along the panels above the rear wheel arch - you don't want to see any ripples
stick your hand in the rear wheel arches and check that the gap down to the wheel is similar on both sides of the car
if it an auto hood you might end up in a world of hurt; my advice is choose a manual (I've owned both)
make sure the hood goes up/down smoothly auto or manual; does it lock down properly (there are many expensive reasons if not)
when you drive it listen for big-time rattling on the windows - poor fit = careless owner or poorly fixed problems; check all windows go up smoothly, ensuring that the rears are up BEFORE the fronts; the front should never end up inside the rear - have a look and you'll see what I mean
is it damp on any of the carpets (most owners will tell you thats inevitable with a cab, but BMW didn't design crap, and my cab doesn't leak, so dry cabs do exist!) and are the seats dry
strangely small tears in the roof tend not to leak, if the roof is treated with a waterproofer
but good luck - they are fantastic fun, and the noise from an o/e exhaust makes up for any damp issues
