So, easy job I thought :rolling:

Get a cut to fill the 6x9 holes in my chromie's parcel shelf (the metal bit under the board), simples ......

Drive 120miles with a boot full of cutting gear to get to a C-reg chromie only to find the parcel shelf is just like the facelift

..confused :?

Drive another 120 miles to a B-reg chromie that from fuzzy photograph is the right shape, when I get there it is the parcel shelf I need - no question abut that but it is covered top and bottom with reinforcing box sections , obviously from the factory.

Made it an absolute pig to cut out, even with a 9" grinder and a sawzall and even better a load of spot welds to carefully grind off to make it look tidy enough to put in.

Anyone else come across shell variations like this?

Oh and anyone fragging an early (Y or A reg) chromie with a good parcel shelf with original speaker holes, please drop me a PM. The early ones are easy to cut out (honest winkeye)

The very early cars - Y reg - do not have the vent holes in the boot that are in the rear quarter panels and hidden by the bumper quarters.
