What are the options these days? The only ones I can find are the knockoffs on Ebay do these even fit?

BTB3?
Only other one that comes to mind is the Fritzbitz one
What's wrong with yours? Has your still got the big lump of pig-iron on it?

The BTB3 is a bit more than I wanted to spend at the moment & the Zone never favored the Fritzbitz one but I will look in to it.
Thanks

as flybynite says the main players are btb3 or the fritzbitz one's.
or there's these

also keep your eye out for a 2nd hand one.

BTB seems to be the only decent option that produces power without getting lucky finding a 2nd hand Alpina/Hartge etc. (and even those would likely struggle in RHD and/or with the E46 rack). Even mated with the standard exhaust it's nice.
Having had a Fritz manifold and full system on the M52 I am not over the moon with it...the car is currently sat with BTB if that gives you any indication...
Having gone through a few different systems, if you have a standard system on I would probably leave it at that unless you want to go BTB or something else similarly serious (nothing springs to mind). If you wanted more sound, I'd start getting adventurous and cutting open standard M20 rear mufflers and seeing if you can remove baffles, etc. I have heard a 2.7 that had a standard rear muffler cut open and messed with that sounded unreal - unfortunately I don't know exactly what was done.
In my old age I'm getting a lot more enjoyment out of using the damn things than playing around with them. Although that's probably a lie...
