Hello :)

I was parked up at Caffeine and Machine recently and I got told that the type of interior I have is rare? The guy who told me that restores the old 6 series and other 5 and 3 series.

I can post some photos tomorrow but does anyone know anything about it? Is it rare?

The car is a 1990 SE and the seats are blue with some white-ish vertical stripes on them and the seatbelts are also two-tone. They have two thin black strips at the edges and are blue in the middle.

Thanks in advance (new to e30s so not got a clue about different interior specs)

Use a VIN decoder and post in the last 6 or 7 digits of your VIN to see if it comes up with what it left the factory built as or ask Cotswolds to do a check, I am sue they would help.

It is rare, only fitted to late 320i and 325i SE models, and depending on the exterior colour. I have only seen 1990 and 1991 cars with these interiors. Different pinstripe interiors were fitted to 5 and 7 series, so I think BMW saw it as a luxury addition to the E30.

Your seatbelts do not sound genuine to me but I could be wrong.

I've never seen front seats worn when that material has been specified . tighter stitching perhaps?

So sorry to disappoint :chuckle: I didn't start the thread trying to show off I was purely curious about something I'd been told.

Sometimes things are rare because they were not popular at the time and not many spec'd it.

Time passing doesn't always change that and make it any more popular.

Some things do change and I never thought I would be putting chrome back on the chromie and actually wanting poverty spec vinyl door cards. 8O

Sorry, I was expecting something along the lines of the Edition interior, or something equally funky!

The E30 came with many different cloth interiors, this is definitely one of the rarer ones. I prefer these pinstripe interiors over most of the others but I guess that's just personal preference, and having matching door cards is a nice feature.

I don't think it's a case of not many speccing them its just a case of the production window being very short.

I definitely havnt seen those seatbelts before, though they do look original.

Looks in good condition though so congrats a lot of people also dislike the Indigo Blue leather interior.

Pin-stripe interior looks great! It's something a bit different to the usual leather or houndstooth etc.

My car is Diamond Black with the 0376 silver and orangey-red pin-stripe interior. It's 'fresh' and bright, as well as comfortable.

Referring to earlier post, I'm not sure it's any more durable than the other fabrics though. I still feel I have to take great care of it...

Best wishes to all
