Hi just started restoring my 1990 e30 1.8i touring. Been neglected for a few years and now decided to get her back on the road. Want to get the rear hub nuts off but upon removing the brake disc discovered no hub nut cap. Shit. Nuts browner than a cadburys flake and just as crumbly. Short of dynamite, any ideas how to get it orf??

It sounds like you still have the locking plate over the nut. It can be hard to see as it is hammered over and rusts to the nut. Use a screw driver in the slots at the side of the hub and hammer it until it moves/deforms then pull out with pliers.
