So I have just been told by Sky Insurance that they can no longer offer me breakdown cover due to the age of the car... never heard of this happening before...
Anyone in the know and any advice?
Thanks

it does happen, some seem to think that because of the age of the car it will breakdown at least once a week/month.
i pay £8p/m (£96 p/y) with green flag for recovery plus, been with them a few years & only used them once on my old mk2 mondeo,
have a word with them see what they say.

I'd tell them, thanks for letting you know, and go elsewhere. I'm with Gem, never heard of them, but the once I called them they we're out in less than an hour! See my turd on a trailer in your favourite E30 picture.
Some companies probably wouldn't even bother to tell you, unity you needed it.

I know it's a bit different here, but I pay 100 euro for ADAC cover which is Europe wide recovery for the family.
They bought the cabby back from France last year when the head gasket blew... I had a rental for a week as well... and a night in a hotel... total overcharge..60 euro. Absolute bloddy bargain.

Check to see if you don't have some sort of cover with your current bank account as I get RAC cover with my Barclays account and it includes relay.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but check the small print as some (most?) dont cover a car if it is over 10yr's old.

Worth checking, of course, as I did with mine, and its covered. The only breakdown claim I've ever made was with the policy before this one, and was a free add on with my insurance. The claim was made on a BMW well over ten years old.
(Don't tell anyone, but all that was wrong with the car was that it had run out of petrol!)

i'm with green flag & as i posted above it only costs me £8 P/M,
as for your claim? i had that once, turned out to be a dodgy fuel gauge.

My breakdown was in the dark, on a fairly minor road, in the middle of Germany, about 50m away from a caravan parked by the side of the road, occupied by a young lady who seemed extremely friendly, and, judging by the very skimpy clothes she was wearing, was obviously feeling hot.
My car runs on LPG, so there is normally only a small amount of fuel in the petrol tank, with the low fuel light often on. There was a software fault with my LPG ECU which made things look like the car was running on LPG, but it was actually running on petrol.
