My car is like many of yours in a constant state of "restoration". I like to think that by buying the right parts and doing each section right I will end up with a car I can just maintain and drive soon.

Something that looks about 3/4 as good as Barry's M3 restoration would make me very happy - viewtopic.php?f=112&t=266832&p=2960100#p2960100

I will soon be refreshing the rear suspension and brakes and quite a few parts need painting.

I could do with some help on what the official OEM colours (or a close match) for many of the mechanical parts:
  • Subframe, driveshaft and trailing arms - Satin Black?
  • Differential Case - Satin Black?
  • Brake and Fuel lines - Olive green?
  • Fuel filler neck - Satin Black?
  • Underseal - Beige? Body colour?
  • Wheel arches - Matte Black?
  • Exhaust - Silver
  • Shadow Trim - Anyone know the correct paint code for this?
  • Anti Roll Bar - Satin Black?
  • Brake Drums - Silver?
  • Brake Calipers - Zinc with yellow passivity?

Check the famous M3 bubble car for pics for what an E30 looks when it was delivery millage , or near zero miles

Underside seems to vary a little. I've seen some near total body colour, but then seen others where large parts are unpainted beige underseal . Full colour gloss undersides look terrible.

You can buy rolls of green steel brake line. It is a lot tougher to bend though than copper or Kunifer and would need painting for an o/e look.

All the black bits would be made by various people using various paints. Find a suitable 2K product that's a satin and do it all the same.

Black trim I've only ever seen a few people do and was never sure how well a 1K rattle can paint would hold up.
Check this thread for the paint he uses. Also seems to be a very high standard for mostly home built restoration.
