Jet wash cab roof

Is it ok to jet wash my roof as the car lives outside and its got a bit discolured.The resson i ask is ive heard it dose not do them any good,is that wright ?

dont laugh,,.... but I simply used fairy liquid. and the right kinda brush .
& then hosed down
and it worked a treat.

I used "Vanish" powder and a large nail brush and it works a treat. Finish off with a jet wash and then re-proof /dye when all dry, last s for ages too.
